Meditation

Meditation is often used for relaxation of the body and mind. This has been around for over 2000 years and is practised by the Tibetan monks to find the path of enlightenment.

Meditation also helps improve the concentration, it opens you for impressions, it helps you coupe with stress and much more. In short, it helps improve your way of life.

Many think meditation is hard to learn, while in fact it is not. It is fairly easy and you can learn it yourself. The only remark I have, is that it takes a long time, depending on the quality you are looking for. Learning about meditation by reading books, talking to people and finding help. Still, it is you who needs to take those steps.

Be convinced that you want this. Daily meditating will speed up the process and guarantees a steady development. The more you practice, the deeper the meditation will eventually become.

For a true well-being you need to meditate, it it a way to connect your body and emotions. Through meditation we can find a sense of peace. It is as simple as asking ourself: "Let my body relax".

When the mind becames calm, we act calmly, relaxed and it develops into a state of 'Being'. Eventually we get used to this state that we don't have to think about it. In a world of continuous changes, our mind grasps for things to hold onto. This is the source of our suffering, our stress. We need to let go of this habit and hold on to the rest inside ourselves.

When we are content with what and who we are, we shall find peace and eventually have peace on earth.

Old Tibetan masters say:

If you have no antipathy and don't cherise unhappy thoughts, your mind will not be in turmoil. Like your mind is not in turmoil, the air your energy will not be disturbed. If the air is not disturbed, other physical elements of your body will not experience disharmony. Harmonic elements will help the mind stay free from turmoil.
Then the wheel will continue to spin.

When an enlightened person is held prisoner, he will not feel imprisoned, because his mind doesn't search for freedom. He doesn't look at the boundaries of his confinement, instead he accepts the situation as it is. When after 15 years he is released and you would ask him "How was it?" he would probably say that is was nice.

Of course, being peacefull and acting normally are two different sides of the same mind. The mind is like a sea; it can be rough and stormy on the surface and calm at the bottom.
This means, we could be busy on the outside, our mind can still be calm and focused.

Meditation improves your focus and concentration and to get there, you have to start by calming your 'self'. Your 'self' is the Budistic meaning for your 'me' or your 'ego'.

We are so busy with the things around us, that we don't spend time expressing or experiencing emotions. We find it difficult, perhaps even scary, do something active such as talking, playing, digging pits in the sand or writing.

Find the peace in your mind to deal with your emotions and find the rest in your life. As you'll understand you can only feel calm when you feel well and comfortable. So begin by creating a good feeling, even in a bad situation.

  • When the sun shines, be aware of it. Enjoy the warmth and the good of it.
  • Even when it rains, know that the sun shines behind the clouds. When you get wet, consider that it is only temporary and that there are dry clothes waiting for you. A good help in such a situation is humor. It will cause a shift in perspective and turn the bad upside down. If you cannot turn your situation into a good one, then make the best of it.
  • See the positive in everything and everything will turn out positive. Only then it will become possible to find true peace and the source of your health.
  • Begin every day with the memory dat you have a good night rest, even when you have slept only a few hours. The next evening you can go to bed early and sleep longer as the night before.
  • Remind yourself that you are alive, you can enjoy the sun. You can enjoy your breakfast. You have friends to talk too and when you go out, you will meet new people.
    Feel good!

After a few days you will notice that life is good and you are feeling well and that's the moment to start meditating.

Meditation is spending time on yourself. Take rest after a working day, work on yourself.
Find a quiet place and stop pondering. It is more difficult then you may realize. You are so used to think and overthink everything around you. 'Stop it'

Stop thinking, try to find the silence.
When you can do this, you can learn to meditate and grow.

In general people meditate to relax, and it's great. It's like having a day off after only a 15 minutes. It improves your concentration, mental power, spiritual awareness. The word "Buddha" in Sanskriet means "to wake up".

Living stress free, relaxed, is more healthy. But when we are ill we can use meditation to speed up recovery by sending enery to that part of our body that needs attention.

-- Perhaps you have cut yourself while gardening. Then meditate to help heal the damaged cells and the wound.

-- Misschien je ziek, because you don't see the value of life. Meditate to see the light in your life and the beauty of life.

-- Perhaps you broke an arm of leg. Then meditate on waves of energy to heal your body.

The use of positive image, words, feelings and faith to convince yourself things are going well, help you move on.
Confirm that this is important for everyone' life. If you confirm things are going well, they are going well. When you feel good, you will look good. People around you will notice and confirm it.
